When to Schedule Exam with OA Testing Center

Students requesting testing accommodations can have these administered by either the instructor or the OA Testing Center. Ideally, instructors or GTAs should proctor the exams to ensure students have the same access for questions. Students and instructors will coordinate a suitable time and place for the exam. 

If the instructor cannot proctor due to scheduling conflicts or specific accommodations, the OA Testing Center can assist. Instructors must fill out an OA Testing Information Form, while students must submit an exam request via the AIM Student Portal.

See below for instructions on submitting an exam request to the OA Testing Center, both when an instructor has completed the OA Testing Information Form and when they have not.

How to Submit Exam Request to OA Testing Center

Instructor Has NOT Completed OA Testing Information Form

  1. Log into AIM Student Portal

  2. Click on Alternative Testing under the Accommodations menu on the left hand side.

    • Important Note: If you see a * next to a course, the instructor has not provided the necessary information about the exam on the OA Testing Information Form

  3. Select Course in the drop down menu

  4. Click Schedule An Exam

  5. Review Terms and Conditions and then move to the Exam Request section.

  6. Choose Exam Type (exam, final or quiz) in the drop down menu.

  7. Enter Date, Time, and Standard Length of Exam (in Minutes). NOTE: Do not enter length with extended time. AIM will calculate your additional time based on your accommodation and standard length entered.

  8. Select the accommodations you need to the exam. 

  9. The Total Exam Length will be calculated and your end time will be provided.

  10. Leave any additional information about the exam (open notes, formula sheet, etc.) or any academic conflicts (back to back classes) in the Additional Note field. 

  11. Click Add Exam Request to complete the process. 

  12. You have now completed an exam request with the OA Testing Center. Students can continue to submit new requests for the course on the next screen.

Instructor Completed OA Testing Information Form

  1. Log into AIM Student Portal

  2. Click on Alternative Testing under the Accommodations menu on the left hand side.

  3. Select Course in the drop down menu, click Schedule An Exam

  4. Review Terms and Conditions and then move to the Exam Request section.

  5. If instructor has specified dates on the OA Testing Information Form, you will see all the Available Exam Dates for your course in the drop down menu.

    NOTE: *If you do not see the exam listed, choose The Exam I’m Scheduling is Not Listed*
  6.  Select the date of exam you need to schedule with OA Testing Center. 

  7. The date field and time will be entered automatically. 

  8. Select the accommodations you need for the exam.

  9. The Total Exam Length will be calculated.

  10. Click Add Exam Request to complete the process.

  11. You have now completed an exam request with the OA Testing Center. Students can continue to submit new requests for the course on the next screen.

What Comes Next?

  • OA Testing Staff will review your request and schedule the exam based on details provided by student and instructor. 

  • An email will be sent with the scheduled date, time, and location.
