Housing and Dining Accommodations

Housing Accommodations

To begin the process of requesting housing accommodation, please register with the Office of Accessibility and provide supporting documentation. If you have questions, please contact the Office of Accessibility at 334-844-2096 or accessibility@auburn.edu. Additionally, visit University Housing for more information. Due to the high demand for on-campus housing, students are encouraged to submit housing accommodation requests as early as possible.

Medical Dining Accommodations

Students with extreme dietary restrictions due to severe food allergies or other medical conditions are encouraged to complete an online dining accommodations request. Please note all requests must be submitted by the 10th day of class.

  1. To apply for accommodation, you will first need to schedule a consultation with our Tiger Dining dietitian, Allan Tablan. We are able to accommodate the vast majority of food allergies and dietary restrictions on campus, and Allan is a great resource for information, resources, and tips about how to dine safely on campus.
  2. There are two dining accommodation options:
    1. Medical Reduction
    2. Medical Exemption

Meal Plans and Medical Reductions:

Students who qualify for Medical Reductions may receive a refund of unused dining dollars at the end of the semester (meals are not refundable).

**All first-time, first-year freshmen are enrolled in the default Orange Meal Plan, which includes 5 weekly meals and $450 dining dollars at a cost of $1470.00 per semester, regardless of where they live. Please note that meals reset early each Sunday morning, and any unused meals do not carry over to the next week.

If a first-time, first-year freshman qualifies for a Reduction, they may receive a refund of any unused dining dollars at the end of the semester. Students in the default Orange plan may receive up to $450 refunded to their eBill account at the end of each semester. Meals are not refundable.

**All sophomores and above who live on campus and have completed at least one year at Auburn are enrolled in the default Blue Meal Plan, which includes 50 meals per semester and $425 dining dollars at a cost of $989.00 per semester. The meals may be used as desired, but they expire at the end of the semester.

If a sophomore or above who lives on campus qualifies for a Reduction, any unused dining dollars will be refunded to their eBill at the end of the semester. Meals are not refundable.

**All sophomores and above who live off-campus participate in the default White Meal Plan which includes $425 Dining Dollars. There is no reduction for this plan; however, an exemption is available for those who qualify.

Exemptions:

An Exemption completely removes the dining plan from a student’s account.

A student may qualify for a Medical Exemption if they have a medical condition with severe dietary restrictions that prohibit the student from eating foods served on campus. The Office of Accessibility will review each student’s case to determine whether the student qualifies for an Exemption.

How to formally request a Reduction or Exemption:

To request a dining plan accommodation, log into your AU Access account and click the “My Campus” tab. Scroll down to Tiger Dining and click the “Accommodations” link.
