SKILL is a fee-based academic coaching program housed under the Office of Accessibility at Auburn University.
Any Auburn student who qualifies for accommodations with the Office of Accessibility is eligible to apply to SKILL.
Our program is available to any student who qualifies for accommodations with the Office of Accessibility. The learning differences we see most often are ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Anxiety, and Dyslexia.
SKILL students meet with their coach, one-on-one, each week to create a personalized action plan for that week’s assignments and activities. Coaches provide study, time management, goal-setting, problem-solving and communication skills and serve as a support hub for students, helping students take advantage of resources around campus.
Yes! We see many students who have relied on their intelligence to find academic success in high school despite traditional teaching methods that are antithetical to neurodivergent learning styles. We are experienced in helping students who have never before had to study find ways to learn that work for them.
SKILL applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. The number of spaces available varies each semester with students currently enrolled in the program getting first priority on registering for subsequent semesters.
We suggest applying to SKILL as soon as you have made the excellent decision to attend Auburn.
No, we do not have an application fee.
No, SKILL students are accepted to the University under the same admissions guidelines as non-SKILL students.
Students currently enrolled in SKILL get first priority on registering for subsequent semesters, but they must submit the re-enrollment form by the re-enrollment deadline (December 1st for Spring semester and May 1st for Summer or Fall semesters) to guarantee a spot. Students on the wait list will be notified on a first-come, first-served basis after the re-enrollment deadline. Look for an email in May or December.
All of our SKILL coaches are professionals with Master’s Degrees or higher and extensive experience in higher education.
SKILL program fees are $1900 for the Spring 2024 semester. We anticipate a rate increase for the Fall 2024 semester, but the final amount has not yet been finalized. We are working on setting up an endowment to try and keep fees low. We are also a Tiger Giving Day project this year!
Yes! Information on donations is coming soon.
A limited number of need-based fee waivers are available. Full or partial fee waivers are awarded based on the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) as determined by the FAFSA.
No. SKILL coaches do not communicate with parents. Parents seeking information regarding grades, attendance or other FERPA-protected information are encouraged to ask their student.
